Price Per Head Industry State of the Union for April 2009

The calendar's busiest month in terms of the variety of sporting events proved to be a rather positive one for the agents who use www.priceperheadpro.com's price per head service. April began with the boon in action provided by the NCAA's Final Four weekend, and continued the momentum throughout the month with the Masters, MLB's first regular season action, the end of the NBA and NHL regular seasons (and subsequent beginning of the playoffs), and even the Wright/Williams fight. Together the various sports combined to produce a definite winner for most bookies, as most price per head agents finished a 2-5% overall winner overall. Reports on handle were far less uniform, however, as many agents and sportsbooks industry wide are suffering from declines in handle similar to land based gaming resorts as a whole. Those price per head agents that were able to avoid mirroring the fate of the Las Vegas gaming industry often saw modest gains in volume within certain sports, but decreases in others; generally such can be attributed to the public's (far more) limited bankroll being used on the Final Four and NBA playoffs, and not (yet) on Major League Baseball. April began most notably with the culmination of the NCAA Men's College Basketball season. Saturday's pair of Final Four games earned modest results for most agents of www.priceperheadpro.com (a 3-5% win), but these paled in comparison to the losses accrued on the Championship game itself. Although bookies, sportsbooks and agents industry wide simply could not overcome the effect of an overwhelming number of "North Carolina-&-Over" parlays that Monday, the losses were well worth the benefits gained by the Tar Heels' Championship victory after spending the entire year as the prohibitive chalk. With their low prices driving future bets elsewhere on the board most of the year, the vast majority of agents who use www.priceperheadpro.com emerged with a 15-20% overall win in their NCAA future books. After price per head agents survived the tumultuous final weeks that typically mark the end of the NBA regular season, the ensuing playoffs began a turnaround for many bottom lines for our pay per head clients. Most bookies and price per head agents reversed their fortunes from well in the red to at least slightly in the black by the end of the month due to the (positive) increased volume provided by the playoffs. Interestingly, numerous sportsbooks offshore and in Las Vegas reported only modest wins of 1-3% on NBA straight bets (sides and/or totals), but far more impressive wins on first and second half wagers. Indeed many price per head agents reported the profits on these wagers distinctly outpaced those drawn on the entire game, and thus actually contributed to the month's overall win in far greater fashion - at times as much as 3% towards the agents overall bottom line! The most positive aspect of the beginning of the baseball season was that most of our pay per head agents avoided the April 'doldrums' typically associated with baseball's first month. Often a loser for sportsbooks and bookies around the world, baseball's first thirty days provided the price per head agents of PricePerHeadPro.com at least a 3-4% winner overall. However, a small negative is the fact that MLB handle was down throughout the sportsbook industry both offshore and in Las Vegas. This downturn can be attributed to the economy rather than booking procedures themselves: the public and their distinctly more limited bankroll simply prioritized betting the NBA playoffs over the commencement of the baseball season. Thus considering this first month of baseball was dominated by an even greater percentage of professional money than usual in April, one can be that much more encouraged by results of our clients at www.priceperheadpro.com Various miscellaneous sports that mark the April calendar also combined to assist noticeably in the positive bottom line for our price per head clients. Although NHL playoff handle was negligible for most, the commonly reported wins of 10% and above certainly were not. Similarly, many of our per head agents enjoyed a terrific Masters (both on future books and matchups), as well as strong wins on Nascar matchups throughout April, and even a decent return on the Winky Wright/Paul Williams fight. Together these factions combined to solidify overall agent profits at 2-5% for the month of April for the clients of priceperheadpro.com

Price Per Head Pro releases NFL predicted season win totals by Las Vegas #1 Source -LVSC.

PricePerHeadPro.com recently released NFL season win totals, granting New England with the highest number of 11 ½ ov -120. The Patriots, did not make it to the 2008 playoffs but have Tom Brady returning to the lineup. They Patriots are followed by the Steelers 10½ ov -120, Chargers 9 ½ov -150, Colts 10 ½un-160, Ravens 9½un-175 and the New York Giants 10½un-160. At the bottom of the season win totals, we have the Lions. After going 0-16 and making some big changes, the Lions have a win total of 4½ov-130. Rams 6½un-180, Raiders 5½ov-130, Chiefs 6½un-145 and the Bengals 6½-115 round out the bottom of the season win totals. When betting season win totals, the bettor has the options of playing 'over' or 'under' the specific number. "I only look to play 'unders' for NFL season win totals," veteran VegasInsider.com handicapper Mark Franco said. "When you play an 'over,' there are just too many things that can go wrong. For instance, if you go 'over' for the Vikings and Adrian Peterson goes down with a season-ending injury, you're in big trouble." One 'under' that LVSC senior oddsmaker Mike Seba likes is for Buffalo to fail to reach eight wins as its tally is 7 ½. "For starters, the Bills are going to be without RB Marshawn Lynch for the first three games," Seba told VI. "And who knows what you're going to get from QB Trent Edwards? Plus, the rest of the division is tough." In my mind, Arizona (9 ½) is the most attractive 'under' on the board. Will the Cardinals eventually trade Anquan Boldin? Can Kurt Warner stay healthy? Is Matt Leinart a capable replacement if Warner does go down? Ken Whisenhunt's team does play in a weak division, but Seattle and San Francisco should be better this season. The Cards have road games against the Titans, Jaguars, Giants and Seahawks, in addition to difficult home games versus the Colts, Panthers and Vikings. Remember, Minnesota went out to the desert and dealt out woodshed treatment last season. If Atlanta is going to reach its win total (9), it will be reversing a trend that has plagued the franchise since its infancy. The Falcons have never had back-to-back winning seasons. "I wasn't aware of that stat but it could very well fall this year," Franco said. "I think the acquisition of Tony Gonzalez is the last piece of the puzzle for Atlanta's offense. With the way the Falcons ran the ball last year with [Michael] Turner and [Jerious] Norwood and now you give Matt Ryan a security blanket in Gonzalez, they are going to be tough to stop." If you're looking for a surprise team to perhaps back with an 'over' wager, Seba likes the Raiders. "The AFC West is really going to be down," Seba said. "Denver is going to struggle and Kansas City still has a long way to go. I'm not thinking of Oakland making the playoffs, but I don't think it will struggle as much as some are suggesting." Seba also gave Philadelphia a good shot to go 'over' its win total of 9 ½. I certainly concur with that assessment thanks to the weapons Andy Reid has put around Donovan McNabb. With DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin, the offense has speed galore. With RB LeSean McCoy added to the mix, Brian Westbrook won't have to carry such a heavy load and is more likely to stay healthy. Franco likes the Texans, who have a win total of 8 1/2, as a possible sleeper squad. "Houston and Atlanta are the only 'overs' on the board that I'm considering," Franco said. "I really think the Texans are going to be a lot better and finally get to the playoffs for the first time." The Vikings are saddled with a win total of nine. Will that number be adjusted if Minnesota signs Brett Favre? "We might move the number to 9 1/2 if Favre signs and is healthy," Seba said. "But I don't even know that he's worth that. He would only impact the number by one-half win, if that."

Price Per Head Industry State of the Union for May 2009

An eclectic mix of events produced decent handle and modest victories for the vast majority of Nevada sportsbooks in May 2009.  While dominated by the NBA and NHL playoffs, the month's volume was buoyed by the Kentucky Derby, the Pacquiao/Hatton fight, and, of course, baseball's daily grind.  Despite numerous locations beginning the month poorly, almost all Nevada books rallied to end the month firmly in the block, typically winning 2-4% for the month overall. The month of May began in rather shaky fashion for much of Nevada, due in large part, surprisingly enough, to poor results on the NHL playoffs.  Typically the poor stretch lasted into the month's second week, and results were inversely related to the amount of volume accepted.  Those with heavier volume performed poorly, while those with less volume emerged relatively unscathed.  This disparity also led to distinct differences between books' bottom lines for the NHL in May:  those with less volume often won as much as 10% in the NHL in May, while those taking heavier action struggled to emerge from the red, losing up to 3% for the month in hockey.Returns for both the NBA playoffs and MLB in May were far more uniform throughout the state.  Few if any locations experienced the troubles seen in the NHL early in the month; rather, both sports steadily accrued profits throughout the month.  With the usual brisk volume that the playoffs bring, the NBA produced a 2-5% winner for the majority of Nevada in May.  Furthermore, as the month drew to a close and the June Finals approached, most future books were situated superbly with the Magic/Lakers pairing (regardless of the winner).  Baseball results were perhaps even more uniform, with almost the entirety of the state holding 2-3% in the sport during a relatively uneventful baseball month. While still not comparable to pre-recession standards, betting volume received a boost from the action drawn on the Pacquiao/Hatton fight, as well as the Saturday/weekend crowds attracted by both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness.  While the latter served mainly to increase handle on other sports, the former was a distinct success in its own right:  most sportsbooks held 3-10% amidst excellent wagering volume.  Particular areas of success did vary widely from book to book, but almost all benefited the most from Pacquiao winning specifically by knockout. Thus while this was the first month in the last 10 devoid of football or NCAA basketball, Nevada books were able to capitalize on the NBA and NHL playoffs sufficiently to emerge in the black for the month.  Handle certainly was more representative of the first of the summer months being upon us, but otherwise was not drastically disappointing.  Nor were the overall results, as the majority of Nevada sportsbooks won at least 2-3% on the month as a whole.
